The Convention of States (COS) project was launched in the mid-2010s by Citizens for Self-Governance (CSG), a 501c(3) non-profit (a.k.a. Convention of States Foundatiion).  The 501c(4) political organizational responsible for the project is Convention of States Action, and both entities are incorporated under the law of the State of Texas.

The project aims to pass the Convention of States Resolution in 2/3 of legislatures among the United States of America.  Once this requirement is met, Article V of the Constitution of the United States of America requires Congress to call a convention wherein the United States may propose amendments thereto, which will become valid as part of the Constitution once ratified by 3/4 of the United States..

There have been multiple applications to Congress for such a convention, but so far none of the efforts has met the requirement with enough specificity about the topics of the amendments which such a convention could propose.  Congress has, however, proposed numerous amendments to the Constitution, and the states have ratified some of them (such as the 27th Amendment, which was ratified over 200 years after its proposal as part of the Bill of Rights.

This blog is intended to address opposition to the Convention of States project.  Just as the Federalist papers convinced the states to ratify our Constitution, I hope these blog posts will convince you that it is time to use the Constitution to save our republic.
